hello public

remember the challenge my friend posed to me which i talk about in the previous entry. well, its working out just fine.

for those of you who dont know what i'm talking about, well, my friend posed me a challenge a week ago as he thought that i'm definitely not capable of changing my lifestyle.

what challenge, i hear you all chant?

live the simple life. no luxury items or any heavy spending on luxury goods for the month of august.

its already been 5days into the month of august and i've yet to step into a starbucks and grab myself an iced venti low fat caramel machiatto. the only ice cream i had over the weekend was a hot fudge sundae from mcdonalds that only cost $1.50. i didnt buy any clothes over the weekend. and i havent taken a cab unnecessarily. and most importantly, i havent paid more that $10 for a meal.

yeap yeap. you dont have to tell me. i know i rock!!

i told you i could do it!! now i only have 25 days more to live in poverty, oops, i mean live the simple life.

anyways,

you guys know how singapore tries to be this 'Centre of Exellence & Perfoming Arts' shit. well i guess its kinda moving towards there. but its still not there yet. i was like wondering how come singapore's art scene doesnt seem to flourish gallantly.

are we not mostly educated? of course we are. then why are theater and other forms of performing arts not gathering enough popularity it deserves.

well i could only put a finger on 3 factors. firstly, low publicity. you dont actually see much advertising and promotions done to reach the public do you. secondly, cost of tickets. if you price your tickets at $38 for the cheapest ones, then obviously quite a number of people will have second thoughts. i mean for $38, do i wanna watch 4 movies at the cinema or do i want to watch a play where i have to use a binoculars viewing from the cheapest seat. and third point, is location. if you do your plays at places only accessible by cars then obviously the lots of singaporeans who travel by public transport's gonna find that a chore.

but, there's one local theater production or some might argue and say cabaret, surpasses all this factors.

they advertise on taxis, newspapers and even worked with a shopping centre, promotion wise. their tickets are on the reasonable range without exceeding $100 for their best seats. and lastly their location is at a well known location accessible by all forms of transport. erm, i dont actually know per se whether the esplanade has a helipad but if you're that rich to own a helicopter, then i think a $12 taxi fare will be peanuts for you.

the show i'm talking about is dimsum dollies.

over the years, i have been a big fan of the dim sum dollies, trying my very best not to miss any new installments of the show. and this year was definitely no exception.

to those of you who have no clue on earth what the dimsum dollies are all about, well, they're made up of Selina tan, pam oei and emma yong. its a musical cabaret comedy kind of performance. they make fun of everything in singapore and everything else. its totally hilarious and a fantastic show to watch.

so earlier in the day met up with maddie for lunch and to shop for sharif's present, his birthday was the week before i've yet to get him anything. i seriously have no idea how long i've known sharif but i know it was like since primary school or something. hahaha!!!

manage to find something from aussino thats dull enough for sharif's liking. hahaha!!

then we had dinner at pastamania, plaza singapura. i love pastamania and how its such wonderful place for cheap and good tasting pasta.

we all love it so much we decided to endorse it.

after dinner we decided to walk around cause it was still too early to make our way to esplanade for the show.

so what do you think happens when i get bored?

camwhoring of course!! and guess who i had with me, 2 more camwhores. but darling, i am the original, king of all hos. and dont let that slip your mind. hahahah!!!

and there we were in a crowded alley posing in front of a signboard. we had to wait for people to walk past before we snapped a foto. shameless i tell you. pure shameless!!

then it just got too many crowded and we decided to look for a less crowded place to vogue it. and guess what i found. a construction site.

i know you're all going WTF!!!.

but wait till you check out these pictures of our individual shots.

me

'a true camwhore is not all about himself in the foto. it is all about location and working that location to his advantage.'

after all that retardedness, we noticed how time jetted past so quickly. so me and sharif said our goodbyes to maddie while we made our way to the coveted Esplanade.

we reached at a really good timing and our $80 tickets provided us with a really good view of the stage.

BEFORE

AFTER

and so the show started and what a blast it was. honestly i'm gonna admit that their first show was definitely their best but this one wasnt that far off either. the dim sum dollies performed to a stellar sold out night and the audience went home satisfied.

we were rather hungry at the end of the show, so we made our way to glutton square for supper. the carrot cake was good but the bbq chicken wings from the same stall tasted like cold erasers. but its okay. i wasnt that hungry anyway.

we decided to make our way to the train station soon after supper so that we can make it for the last train and boy was the place crowded. there were crowds whom i heard just ended watching the national day preview. i so did not feel like squeezing in the train with everyone. so we decided to chill out at starbucks first before we took a cab home.

and soon later i got bored again.

and guess wad?

hahahaha!!! like i know right?

toodles
